Third Street

Begin in downtown and work your way east on Third Street to discover some of our new local favorites. From coffee shops, art studios, breweries, and music venues you’re sure to find somewhere fun to spend the day. Continue on to Lewis where you will find the flourishing Kendall Whittier neighborhood – home of the Tulsa Farmer’s Market, Circle Cinema, Ziegler Art Supplies and so much more!

Church Studio

Built in 1915 and converted in 1972 from a church to a music studio by songwriter and producer Leon Russell, Church Studio is the home to Shelter Records. Church Studio played a significant role in American music history and is a landmark for the Tulsa Sound. Many artists recorded at Church Studio including Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, JJ Cale, The Gap Band, and Peter Tosh.

Please support our incredible local musicians and venues to continue the great tradition of the Tulsa Sound!

Explore the historic Kendall-Whittier Neighborhood when you head North on Lewis from 3rd! We have a This Machine station in Whittier Square, where the Farmer’s Market is, and there are bike racks a-plenty (look for the orange and green ‘KW’s). Kendall-Whittier offers anything you could want, from delicious local eateries and coffee shops, to science and art supply stores, to Tulsa’s oldest standing movie theater, and more! Check out this guided virtual tour of the district, with Jessica, Executive Director of Kendall Whittier Main Street
